Haemochromatosis Australia is pleased to announce that the first Victorian Haemochromatosis HealthPathway has now been released for Melbourne. This adds to a number of Haemochromatosis HealthPathways already published or under development in NSW and ACT.
Congratulations to HealthPathways Melbourne.
Haemochromatosis Australia is assisting and encouraging Medicare Locals in other areas to include haemochromatosis in their HealthPathways projects. We hope that eventually a Haemochromatosis HealthPathway will be available to medical and health practitioners everywhere.
The announcement by HealthPathways Melbourne is published below.
Please note that only health professionals registered with Melbourne HealthPathways will be able to access the actual HealthPathway site from the links in their article.

HealthPathways Melbourne is pleased to introduce its Hereditary Haemochromatosis page to help GPs effectively manage and refer patients with Haemochromatosis.
HealthPathways Melbourne, is a web-based portal that brings together key resources for assessment and management of common conditions, giving GPs access to detailed, practitioner-developed information to assist them in managing patients with Haemochromatosis.
This new Hereditary Haemochromatosis page was created in consultation with GPs to give GPs an appropriate and easy to interpret pathway and help them effectively manage and refer patients with Haemochromatosis. The page also includes patient resources developed by Haemochromatosis Australia and other professional bodies which are easy to read and understand.
HealthPathways Melbourne contains over 120 localised pathways, covering common conditions such as Hepatitis B and C and cardiovascular disease. There are a number of resource pages including those for Disabled Parking, Childhood Immunisation, the Multi-Purpose Taxi Programme and Investigation Updates including MRI. The system has been localised by Inner East and Inner North West Melbourne Medicare Locals, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Eastern Health and The Royal Women’s Hospital, and is available to all GPs across both catchments.
