Planning for the 2nd Biennial Australasian Haemochromatosis Conference is well underway. The conference will be held at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Herston, Brisbane on the weekend of 6 -7 August.

We now have two international keynote speakers and a strong line up of Australian experts confirmed as speakers. Professor John Crowe from Ireland and Professor Pierre Brissot will provide an international perspective and share experiences and updates on haemochromatosis from a European viewpoint. Other confirmed Speakers include many of the leading figures in research, clinical treatment and support of haemochromatosis in Australia.

Much of the conference will be held in plenary sessions. There will be special sessions on both days for Professional and Scientific Stream and General (Patients, Health Professionals and others).

Our keynote speakers Professors Crowe and Brissot will lead a haemochromatosis question and answer session for those of us at the conference living with the condition.  There will be updates on the activities, aims and plans for Haemochromatosis Australia and Haemochromatosis International associations and a chance for you to offer your views on how we can best support and improve the health outcomes for everyone at risk of inherited iron overload.

Professional and Scientific Stream
