Free Public Forum – Genetics – QIMR Berghofer Brisbane

QIMR Berghofer Institute are holding a free public genetics forum at the Institue in Herston, Brisbane. One of the talks by Professor Greg Anderson is about haemochromatosis. Greg is head of the Iron Metabolism Group at the institute and President of the International Bio-Iron Association. These forums are always interesting and a great opportunity to learn more about how genetics affect our lives.

Tony Moorhead, Secretary of Haemochromatosis Australia will attend the forum and bring along some of our free resources for people affected by haemochromatosis. Tony will be pleased to meet for a chat and a coffee with anyone interested after the forum.

ACCESSING QIMR BERGHOFER
QIMR Berghofer is located at 300 Herston Rd, Herston, four kilometres north of Brisbane’s central business district and is accessible by bus, train, taxi and private transport.
We have 3 buildings. On day of the public forum you should come to the reception desk located in the foyer of our new building –QIMR Berghofer Central – located at 300 Herston Rd, Herston. It is located in between our 2 other buildings, just down from the Royal Children’s Hospital.
CARS: Paid car parking is available in the Wilson Carpark on Herston Road (directly opposite the main building). This option will cost approx $22 for 2 hours. Some metered parking can also be found in surrounding streets, in particular Gilchrist Avenue and Herston Road.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus stops are located outside the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital on Bowen Bridge Road and the Royal Children’s Hospital on Herston Road. QIMR Berghofer is also located near the RCH Herston bus stop located on the bus way (approx 200 metres). If travelling to the city by rail, disembark at either South Brisbane train station or Roma St Train station and use the bus way to catch a bus to QIMR. The 333, 330 or 66 all go along the bus way towards RCH Herston. Upon exiting the station at RCH Herston, turn right on Herston Road and QIMR Berghofer is located 150 metres further down the road.
